According to the World Food Programme, the number of people facing hunger in West Africa and the Sahel region is forecast to reach an all-time high. At Fulani Kitchen Foundation, our goal is to mitigate this issue by utilizing Fonio, given the crop is disease and drought resilient and provides more nutrients to the soil than any other staple crops like rice and maize. As a result of the Foundation’s work, the objective is to improve food security for rural communities, increase productivity through efficient post-harvest processing, and raise the income levels of women farmers to enable them to support their families by providing employment opportunities.
